Phys Ed Camp Champs Wilderness Wednesday July 9, 2014
NATURE inspired our games and activities today. We searched for sticks, then built pretend campfires. (With the assistance of our resident Boy Scout volunteer, Griffin Lawlor). These were used for our Fire Tender game. Campers sat around the campfire and the blindfolded "fire tender" had to guess which camper sneakily stole a stick from the fire.
We also introduced a game called Deer, Deer, Deer. This was a fun game involving deer players searching for their needs of food, water and shelter. Campers had to communicate by using hand signals to denote which need they represented. A brief discussion followed where we learned about the recent increase in the deer population at the Celery Farm in Allendale. We talked about how this increase is effecting that local environment.
